Milan announces ambitious schemes

Milan is already planning for life after Covid-19. The city hopes to emerge from lockdown with cleaner and greener transports with a series of environmental initiatives to ensure public safety and bolster the fight against climate breakdown.

Milan has already announced measures, from 35 kilometres of new bike lanes, widened pavements, pedestrian and cyclist priority streets (one of Europeโ€™s most ambitious cycling and walking schemes)

The city’s main shopping street and the heart of the gay district, Corso Buenos Airesย is earmarked to be the first to receive the new traffic reduction measures, with work due to start there at the beginning of May.

Itโ€™s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take a fresh look at streets and city
